In a statement, the authority called on all tobacco producers, importers, distributors and products and all concerned parties in this sector to adhere to the system issued by the Cabinet’s decision regarding “setting distinctive signs on tobacco and its products”, which aims to track tobacco packages and products electronically from their production until they reach the consumer to ensure their conformity with specifications Approved, and full commitment to pay the tax.

The Federal Tax Authority stressed the importance of implementing its decision regarding the application of the “System of Distinctive Marks on Tobacco and its Products” which came into effect as of the first of last November, as the authority began providing “digital tax stamps”, in cooperation with the company “de la Rue” operating the system to be issued Purchase orders regarding it by importers and producers of hookah tobacco and electrically heated cigarette coils to install on these selective goods to indicate that the tax has been paid for.

The general manager of the authority, Khaled Ali Al-Bustani, said that the application of the second stage of the system of «distinctive signs on tobacco and its products» by expanding the system to include hookah tobacco (Almassal) and cigarette coils that are electrically heated came as a complement to the successful application of the first stage, according to which the prevention of selling (circulation) began Possession of all types of cigarettes that do not bear "digital tax stamps" in local markets, as of the beginning of last August.

He added that the system supports the Authority's efforts to collect taxes and combat tax evasion, as it contributes to protecting consumers from commercial fraud, and from the leakage of poor products to markets, in addition to preserving environmental safety and human health.
