“We are waiting for a discussion with the government regarding the strategy of Naftogaz, and after that a decision will be made how this money can be optimally spent,” Kobolev said on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
According to him, the company's management does not exclude the possibility of spending a third of the funds for production, but it’s too early to talk about it.
“So far, they are all (funds from Gazprom. - RT ) on our accounts, and before the conclusion of this discussion, I think it would be incorrect for us to decide for ourselves how to spend it,” he added.
Earlier, the Naftogaz press service commented on the lifting of arrests from Gazprom’s assets in claims of a Ukrainian company in the UK, Luxembourg and the Netherlands after the company paid a debt of $ 2.9 billion.
In December, Gazprom paid $ 2.9 billion to Ukrainian Naftogaz by decision of the Stockholm arbitration as part of a settlement of the gas transit dispute.
Naftogaz confirmed receipt of $ 2.9 billion from a Russian company.
