The current president and CEO of Vueling, Javier Sánchez-Prieto , has been appointed by IAG as the new president and CEO of Iberia, replacing Luis Gallego, who in turn will become CEO of the parent company once Willie Walsh leaves the charge on March 26.

On the other hand, the current commercial director of Iberia , Marco Sansavini , will assume the position of president and CEO of Vueling.

Walsh has indicated that he has "the certainty that they are the right people to lead Iberia and Vueling", since both have "excellent track record" within the group.

Meanwhile, Gallego has highlighted the "broad knowledge and experience" of both in the international and national markets and has been "pleased" to be part of his team to assume the new position.

Sánchez-Prieto has led Vueling for the past three years. Between 2013 and 2016 he was financial and strategy director at Iberia, where he played a "fundamental" role in the return to profitability of the company.

Previously, he was CFO of Iberia Express since its creation in 2012 and previously worked for several years in various positions at the Uralita Group and at Air Nostrum.

Before his appointment, he has argued that it is a "great honor" to lead Iberia "and that his goal is" to continue with the development of this great company, "Efe reports.

For his part, Sansavini has been the commercial director of Iberia for seven years leading the commercial transformation and corporate image of the company. Previously, he held various management positions in strategic and commercial areas at Alitalia and Air France-KLM.

Sansavini has stated that he is "delighted" to assume the position of CEO of Vueling "and to be able to continue developing his successful business model."
