Hugues Meili founded the company Niji in 2001 in Rennes. - R. Meigneux / SIPA

  • The Niji company moved into its new headquarters at the end of November, a stone's throw from Rennes train station.
  • The co-founder of the company Hugues Meili will welcome this Friday some personalities including the Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to inaugurate his new premises.
  • In less than twenty years, Niji has made a place of choice in the digital development of companies and employs more than 900 people in France and abroad.

She is not yet 20 years old but already displays a disconcerting maturity. This Friday, she will hang the rack from her new official accommodation, two months after moving there. A pretty 3,000 m² loft nestled close to the Rennes train station in the brand new buildings designed by Giboire. With Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian among the guests. Who ? Little Niji. Founded in the Breton capital in 2001, it already employs more than 900 people in France and abroad in the field of “digital transformation of businesses”.

Co-founder of Niji, Hugues Meili had the good idea to create a three in one box. “We offer the services of a consulting firm, a design agency and a web development company. This responds to market demand, ”says the founder. To put it simply, Niji takes its customers by the hand from start to finish to offer them a complete digital strategy, from the website to brand development and mobile application development.

And to believe the CEO, this combination of professions makes Niji an almost unique case in France. “We have never bought a business, never raised funds, but we are growing at our own pace. We will soon be 1,000 employees, which is an ideal size. We are neither too big nor too small, which allows us to maintain proximity but also to respond to large projects. It's horrible to say, but we have no competitors, ”says Hugues Meili. Among its customers, the company has behemoths like EDF, Alstom, SNCF and Orange.

"We are immune to crises"

Long confined to the telecommunications sector, the company had seen the sector experience a major crisis from 2011 to 2013 when the operator Free had developed. Niji then understood the importance of diversifying. “Digital is transversal and it allows us to work in all sectors of activity. We have clients in banking, metallurgy, transportation, media. It is our added value. We are immune to crises and we can multiply our growth. "

Hugues Meili knows what he is saying. Last year, the turnover of his company has increased by 15% and is expected to cross the 100 million euros mark in 2020. Results which enabled the Rennes entrepreneur to buy premises a stone's throw away of the new Rennes station to install its new headquarters there, which will soon welcome 300 employees. An investment of around 12 million euros financed by the company's equity. Solid.
