The Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi, “the main partner” of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, announced yesterday the launch of the Energy Department Innovation Platform, with the aim of supporting the directions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to stimulate innovation as one of the tools to achieve future energy leadership, and to contribute to finding innovative ideas and solutions that enhance the Department’s directions To achieve energy transformation.

The department stated, in a statement, that the platform aims to attract innovators and sector experts, owners of small and medium enterprises, students and community members, locally, regionally and globally, to participate in innovations and creative ideas supporting the energy sector and environmental sustainability at the energy level, as the platform allows its visitors to present their innovations according to categories Head of Energy and Sustainability.

The platform offers a unique and simplified experience for its visitors from the innovators, through only two steps, the first is to choose the category that best suits the idea or innovation from the list of nine categories, and in the second step provide a simple explanation of the idea, and complete the contact and communication data, while the stage of reviewing the submitted ideas begins Starting with the initial evaluation of the idea by the department’s innovation team, and then the technical evaluation by specialists in the department based on the quality of the idea, then providing recommendations internally about opportunities and mechanisms for adopting and implementing the idea and discussing the type of support required by its owner, whether through sponsorship Beshrh idea or project by the department, or through coordination with the department to support innovation more partners to harmonize the development of the sector.

"The department believes in its role in supporting the directions of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to support and promote the principles of innovation, as one of the ingredients for upgrading the local community, and preparing for a more sustainable and prosperous future," said Abdullah Al Khumairi, Executive Director of Strategic Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Energy Department.

In addition, the Abu Dhabi Energy Department is working to enhance joint cooperation with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the intergovernmental organization in the field of global energy transformation, with the aim of exchanging experiences and practices, reviewing visions in the development of the training system, capacity building, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability, and stimulating the transformation process Energy in Abu Dhabi.

This came through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Energy Department and "IRENA" yesterday, on the sidelines of the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in Abu Dhabi.
