“This is an important event for the Russian and European energy. This is a new route for Russian gas ... profitable for Europe, and the supply volume is already guaranteed, ”Ananskih said.

The parliamentarian stressed the importance of launching the Turkish Stream for the European economy. According to him, cheap Russian gas will mean lower prices for products in European countries.

He also noted that the Russian energy sector has made significant progress on the diversification of gas supply routes.

“The Russian Federation has significantly expanded its supply routes: Nord Stream-1, now Nord Stream-2 is being completed ... This, of course, diversifies the supply of Russian gas,” the parliamentarian added.

Earlier in Istanbul, the Turkish Stream gas pipeline was launched with the participation of the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, said that the launch of the Turkish Stream is a strategically important event for Russia, which demonstrated that Russia does not intend to politicize the energy sector.
