The South Korean Ministry of Transport said Monday that Hyundai Motor and Kia Motor, the automakers, have started to withdraw more than 640,000 cars voluntarily to repair their components.

The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the move is the latest in a series of car withdrawals by the two leading companies of Hyundai Motor Group.

According to the Ministry of Lands, Utilities and Communications, the two companies will withdraw 642,272 cars from six models.
