The budget plan for the next fiscal year, which will be decided by the Cabinet on the 20th, is expected to include 80.4 billion yen in operating expenses for the three maintenance bullet trains in Hokkaido, Hokuriku and Kyushu.

Combined with local governments and JR companies, the total project cost for the next fiscal year will be 443.0 billion yen, an increase of 46.7 billion yen.

The policy is to allocate 275 billion yen for the Hokuriku Shinkansen, which is 11.2 billion yen more than this year, to the Kanazawa and Tsuruga sections, where construction is progressing toward completion in 2022.

The Kyushu Shinkansen and Nagasaki routes will be allocated 75 billion yen, 800 million yen less than the current fiscal year, in the sections between Takeo Onsen and Nagasaki, where construction is scheduled to begin in FY2022.

The Hokkaido Shinkansen is planned to allocate 93 billion yen, 44.3 billion yen more than the current fiscal year, to the section between Shin Hakodate Hokuto and Sapporo scheduled for completion in 2030.
