Nearly 200 NGO and UN- funded projects need to be funded to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. A foot call has even been launched to the international community as the funds have been dropping in recent years.

2.5 million Palestinians in need

Food aid, health, access to water, 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza , the West Bank and East Jerusalem are to receive humanitarian aid next year. They are nearly 2.5 million in need, but the objectives are revised down due to lack of funds and decreasing interest for the region.

" Looking back over the last seven years, this is the lowest amount spent on humanitarian assistance, although we have tried to focus and prioritize aid to the most vulnerable. Given that Palestine has been in crisis for a long time, we have been launching these plans since 2003, "said Jamie McGoldrick, coordinator of the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Territories .

" I think Palestine has lost some attraction. But it's also because of political paralysis. Humanitarians are reduced to maintaining the situation as it is, helping people where possible and supporting them until a political solution is found to the internal Palestinian conflict, but also to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict . And unfortunately we are still far away, "said Jamie McGoldrick.

More than 75% of the funds requested must be spent on the Gaza Strip.
