The London transport management body decided on Monday not to renew the license of the Uber car rental platform in the British capital alleging "failures" that call into question the safety of passengers.

"Transport for London (TfL) has concluded that it will not grant Uber London Limited (Uber) a new private operator license in response to its last request," he said in a statement.

This Monday the Uber license in London expired. Uber and TfL have been involved in a long-term battle since the authority rejected a renewal request in 2017, citing weaknesses in the company's system to verify the driver's crimes or background.
