The takeover bid for the last plant that produced slippers was slammed Friday by the Commercial Court, sealing the fate of the company and its hundred employees. A blow to the department.

REPORTAGE

The wait was endless on the spot, before the employees finally got to know the decision. In the image of Florence, who describes "a blow of club on the head" and expresses his "anger with this mess". She is worried about her future and that of her colleagues. "We're all going to Pôle emploi, where there were couples working together and losing their jobs," she says.

Her concern now comes from the fact that "in Charente, apart from the Charente woman, there is not much more to do for people like us". The average age of employees would be 50 years. "It's not easy to find a job at this age," says the former employee.

Less than a year ago, the company had obtained a geographical indication, a label that guaranteed its know-how.
