As Novak emphasized, it was stated that everything was going according to plan.

“We emphasized once again that there still remain risks that our colleagues will not be in time, and as a fallback, we are ready to ensure the extension of the gas transit agreement, which is in force today, for 2020,” he added.

According to him, if Ukrainian colleagues are ready to work according to European legislation, Russia is also ready according to this legislation to ensure gas transit through Ukraine from 2020.

Earlier in Brussels, trilateral consultations of Russia, the European Union and Ukraine on gas transit were completed, they lasted about 80 minutes.

After previous consultations on gas transit, which took place in mid-September, the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller also noted that in this situation there is plan B, which is to extend the existing contract for a short period of time.
