He explained that the problem centered in the fingerprint sensor ultrasonic, which invalidates the lock screen, by recognizing the three-dimensional patterns that appear on some covers made of silicone, used to protect the screens.

Al-Naimi said that the company recommends users of the phones «Galaxy Note 10», «Note 10», «S10», and «S10», who use this type of protection covers, remove them, delete all the fingerprints previously registered on the device, and register fingerprints Fingerprinting again, pointing out that this disadvantage allows unlocking devices with any other fingerprint, and not necessarily only the fingerprint of the user.

Al-Naimi said that the company stressed that if the use of covers with an interface to protect the front screen, the user should refrain from using these covers until the software update developed by the company, calling on consumers to download this update as soon as it is available on phones from the company.

He confirmed that he had received a commitment from the company to make this update within a week, to ensure the optimal use of fingerprint scanning.

He added that once this update is downloaded, the user must register the fingerprint in full, until all parts of the fingerprint are scanned, including the center of the finger and the corners.

He pointed out that there is no direct risk to consumers due to this manufacturing defect, pointing to this manufacturing defect in the phones available in the UAE and in a number of countries in the world.

Al-Naimi stressed that the Consumer Protection Law No. (24) issued in 2006 obliged any supplier, upon discovering a defect in a commodity or service that would harm the consumer when used, to inform the Consumer Protection Department, the concerned authorities and the consumer of the potential damages, and how to prevent them, as determined by the regulation. He stressed that the ministry is following the emergence of any manufacturing defects in various commodities, especially food commodities, electronics, and consumer goods on a daily basis through the Internet and various media, as it communicates with producers, agents and sellers, and importers at home and abroad, to take the necessary actions, according to the seriousness of this The disadvantage.

He said the ministry's actions are aimed at protecting the health and safety of consumers in the country, reducing fraud and misinformation, as well as guaranteeing consumer rights to protect against products that are likely to pose any risk in the short, medium or long term.

The manufacturing defect allows devices to be opened with any other fingerprint, not necessarily the user's fingerprint only.
