Kim Jang-cheol is approaching, and you may be surprised to see cabbage prices at the market. Prices have more than doubled last year.

There are spoiled cabbages in the cabbage field where mature cabbages should line up.

At first glance, things look fine, the leaves are yellow and the roots are rotten.

This 10,000 square meter field was supposed to harvest about 40,000 kimchi cabbages.

However, as the last big typhoon swept three times, it is now difficult to find a good cabbage.

The cabbage roots could not be firmly rooted due to the strong winds and heavy rains that 'ringling' and 'mitak' drove.

In October this year, Chinese cabbage production was 241,000 tons, down 16.6% year-on-year.

Prices have nearly doubled last year as supply declined significantly.

Consumers are embarrassed by the sudden rise in cabbage prices.

[Kim Mee / Seoul Mapo-gu: I'm going to eat old kimchi because the cabbage is too expensive.]

In this situation, the distribution industry explains that more and more customers are looking for pickled cabbage and packing kimchi, which are similar in price to last year.

[Kwak Seung-gyu / manager of a large-scale mart: I have secured the quantity by advance reservation. In the case of pickled cabbage and kimchi, the price remains the same as the average year.]

The farmers who have to throw away the cabbage they have grown up are also deeply troubled by the families ahead of Kimjang.
