“It is important for Ukraine to get a new long-term agreement, because Ukraine and our gas transportation system begin to work according to European rules,” TASS quoted the Prime Minister.

According to him, Kiev sets itself the goal of obtaining a long-term contract, since “it is simply not suitable for us to renew for one year according to the old rules”.

Earlier, Naftogaz stated that they did not see any reason in extending the gas contract with Gazprom on existing conditions.

In early October, Russian leader Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russia was ready to extend the gas pumping contract for a year if a new agreement was not signed.
