The emirate received 10.85 million international visitors during the first eight months of 2019, compared with 10.44 million visitors during the same period of 2018, a growth of 4%.

The number of hotel rooms at the end of August 2019 rose to 119,35 hotel rooms, compared to 111,864 hotel rooms at the end of August 2018, representing a growth of 6.41%.

According to the data, the number of hotel establishments in Dubai increased by the end of August 2019 to 712 hotel compared to 703 at the end of the same month of 2018, while the total number of hotel nights reached 20.55 million nights compared to 19.56 million nights, a growth of 5.1%. The average occupancy of hotel rooms reached 73% between January and August 2019, while the average room rate was AED 408, with an average return on rooms of AED 299.

According to the data, India ranked first, as the largest export market for visitors to Dubai during the period between January and August 2019, registering 1.24 million visitors, followed by Saudi Arabia with a total of 1.13 million visitors, while the United Kingdom ranked third with 759 thousand visitors. The total number of visitors from Oman recorded 703 thousand visitors, and from China 650 thousand visitors.

With regard to the source of visitors by geographical region, Dubai Tourism data showed that the European market and the GCC market ranked first in the list of the largest markets during the first eight months of this year, having captured 20% of the total number of each Followed by South Asia (16%), North and Southeast Asia (12%) and the Middle East (10%).

Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe accounted for 8%, America 6%, and Africa 6%, compared to 2% for Australia.
