Is UNIQLO the first store in India?

The major clothing chain “UNIQLO” opened its first store in India on the 4th, and is attracting attention whether it will succeed in capturing a huge market with a population of over 1.3 billion.

Ceremony was held in commemoration of the opening at a shopping mall in New Delhi, the capital of India, and Mr. Tadashi Yanai, chairman and president of “Fast Retailing” operating UNIQLO, said “I want to make it the best store in New Delhi”.

This store is one of the largest in the world with 3300 square meters on three floors. In line with the opening of the store, products based on traditional clothing called “Kurta” have been incorporated with Indian designers.

UNIQLO plans to open two more stores in and around New Delhi later this year.

Previously, an Indian woman who lived in Japan said, “I was looking forward to the opening. I think the quality will be good, the price is reasonable, and there will be more stores in the future.”

In India, where the population has exceeded 1.3 billion and economic growth has continued, restrictions on foreign capital have been eased, leading to the entry of major clothing chains in each country as well as Japanese retailers and restaurants, and how far a huge market can be captured. Attention is gathering.
