For the Medef, it is not excluded that some companies pay the high price. Jacques DEMARTHON / AFP

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson insists on a Brexit from October 31 and the chances are very slim to reach an agreement with the European Union. The consequences of this rupture will be heavy for most French companies, warns the Medef, the Movement of the companies of France. The employers' organization organized this week a new public awareness day.

At almost a month of a possible hard Brexit , the French employers worried about the lack of preparation of French exporting companies to the United Kingdom, especially SMEs.

For Patrick Martin, CEO of Medef, it is not excluded that some pay the high price:

" For example on consumer goods, food products that are subject to regulations, on pharmaceutical goods, there will be an avalanche of delays, annoyances, paperwork, and some companies, yes, could be put in difficulty . They will be few, but one is already one too many. "

Valmere, is an energy transition consulting company working in the UK. Its president Louis Boisgibault does not rule out losing the English market if there is a Brexit without agreement.

" If things were too complicated with Britain, it looks like" well, well, we will continue to go in a friendly way, but we will reconcentrate the activity on the European Union, Africa, the Middle East. East, and too bad for Britain . " It's a bit of a shame despite everything. "

According to the Medef a hard Brexit will cost the French economy 0.2 point of GDP next year and a loss of 3 billion euros for French companies that export to the United Kingdom.
