The monthly list of contributory Social Security pensions reached 9,693.01 million euros on September 1, which represents an annual increase of 4.96%, as reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security.

The Social Security System paid 9,760,229 contributory pensions, 1.18% more. This is the smallest increase this year. The number of retirement pensions, 6,054,949, registered an interannual increase of 1.75%, a rate that month by month has been moderating until reaching the lowest value of 2019 and the last 17 months.

According to Work, it is worth highlighting the evolution of the new retirement pensions registered until August, 203.402, 7.48% less than in the same period of the previous year (219.837). The system pays 2,361,941 widow's pensions; 958,827, for permanent disability; 341,854, of orphanhood and 42,728, in favor of relatives, according to the agency Servimedia.

The average pension of the System, which includes the different classes (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of family members), is 993.11 euros per month. Specifically, the average retirement pension amounts to 1,140.71 euros per month and the widow's pension stands at 713.44 euros. As for the new discharges, the average retirement pension (August) is 1,333.69 euros in the whole system. The number of affiliates per pensioner amounted to 2.32 on average in August, the latest data published by Social Security.
