A new global survey shows that people across the Middle East share their optimistic outlook for the future. Respect and celebration of diversity are key to building a better future for all, with 63% of respondents considering themselves optimistic.

YouGov's Global Optimism Outlook survey, commissioned by Expo 2020 Dubai, examined the priorities of countries in their aspirations for the future, in terms of sustainability, economic growth, technology, travel and others. Middle East included: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan, distributed by geographical region, sex, employment, marital status and income, while the survey globally included more than 20,000 people from 23 countries.

Hopes for combating climate change in the region exceeded the global average, with nearly two-thirds of respondents (64%) optimistic about humanity's ability to save the planet, while tolerance and respect were high, with the region deemed necessary to build a better world. .

The vast majority of respondents in the Middle East believe that the key to unlocking and shaping future opportunities lies in individuals and communities, rather than in big countries and companies.

88% of respondents in the region said that individuals and communities can together shape the future through greater collaboration, communication and knowledge sharing, demonstrating people's willingness to work together for the common good. These results are largely consistent with those globally.

Regionally, a large majority (86%) thinks that inventions will continue with technological advances, building communities around the world, connecting people globally (85%) and bringing the world closer (81%). A larger majority (89%) is optimistic about the future of global transport, which will allow people to move more easily, while 87% said they hope to facilitate cross-border crossings in the future.

With Expo 2020 Dubai approaching, which is only about a year away, 85% of respondents from the region said they were interested in attending, a testament to the great interest that this international event is receiving in the Middle East. All States.
