According to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the provision of incorrect or inaccurate information through the means of information technology is a crime punishable by the law to combat IT crimes in the state.

At the same time, «Telecommunications Regulation» advised users of social media sites to update their applications on mobile devices and computers on an ongoing basis.
