The pilots of the British Airways airline began on Monday a two-day strike demanding salary improvements. For this reason almost all the flights that the company had scheduled in the United Kingdom have had to be canceled.

"We have no choice but to cancel almost 100% of our flights ," the company said in a statement, explaining that it was obliged to make its decision due to the lack of information from the Balpa union on the number of pilots who are on strike.

The company and Balpa said on Sunday that they are willing to start new talks to overcome the differences, after those workers rejected in July a salary increase of 11.5% over the next three years .

"We are prepared and willing to return to the talks with Balpa," the British company said in a statement.

The union indicated, on the other hand, that the pilots are willing to suspend the strike if there is "a new proposal" on the table and has stressed that the strike is a measure of "last resort" to the "enormous frustration" felt by these workers.
