The Gaza Strip has been placed on alert this Wednesday, August 28. Two explosions during the night of August 27 killed three members of the Hamas security forces, the ruling movement in the enclave. An investigation is under way, but the eyes are turning to Salafist groups.

For the moment, the security forces refrain from appointing a leader. They say they have " first hand information " on these two attacks and their authors and ensure that they " continue their investigations ". But it is well towards the most radical groups of the Palestinian enclave that they orient themselves.

Checkpoints attacked

For several years, security forces have set up checkpoints on the main roads of the Gaza Strip. These are two of them who were the target of these attacks last night. The mode of operation of the attackers has not been confirmed, but several media evoke suicide attacks. Hamas political bureau chief Ismaïl Hanyeh said the attacks " are aimed at undermining the stability of the Gaza Strip " and calls for public support for the police.

All Palestinian factions condemned these attacks. But in the past, several explosions have been blamed on Salafist groups. This was the case of a suicide bombing on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt in August 2017 and that of the car of the chief of the security forces in the enclave, two months later.
