As noted in the Central Bank of RIA Novosti, attackers manage to withdraw funds in the first hours after the transfer.

“According to statistics, the withdrawal of stolen funds is carried out in the first hours after the transfer, while the receipt of the KUSP coupon can significantly exceed the indicated period. Thus, an increase in the term for blocking funds in a client’s current account can have the opposite effect when banks take appropriate measures after an attacker withdraws stolen funds, ”the Central Bank said.

The press service of the regulator noted that various kinds of legislative changes in this area can be carried out only if the effectiveness of the proposed measures is assessed.

Earlier, Kommersant wrote that Russian banks are proposing amendments to laws that will allow cards to be blocked for up to 30 business days if they suspect that they have credited fraudulently debited funds. At the same time, financial institutions noted that in order to increase the term for freezing funds, the sender must contact the police.

In July, the Central Bank announced the elimination of an error in ATMs used by fraudsters for malicious actions.
