According to data of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector in the Dubai Economy, the number of complaints filed by consumers against car repair shops reached 580 complaints during the first half of 2019, representing 3.2% of the total complaints, confirming that the Consumer Protection Department handled the complaints so that They are closed within four working days and a solution to the complaint.

The data showed that the Department of Consumer Protection received 2,297 complaints against car agencies in the emirate, during the first 10 months of 2018, compared to 2403 complaints received by the administration in the same period of the previous year.

She added that the complaints of car repair shops represent up to 3.2% of the total complaints recorded by the Dubai economy during the first half of the number of 17.768 thousand complaints. She explained that a large percentage of complaints came through the smart channels available to protect consumers, as part of the strategic efforts to enhance competitiveness in Dubai.

Ahmed Al Zaabi, Director of Consumer Protection Department at Dubai Economy, told Emirates Today that complaints against car workshops are among the most common complaints received by the Consumer Complaints Department, especially if some workshops do not comply with the warranty agreement and conditions. The nationalities of the complainants varied between citizens and residents of several countries. He stressed Dubai's efforts to enhance the confidence of traders and consumers in the local market and shops in the emirate and accelerate the intelligent transformation of services in the emirate.

Al-Zaabi explained that 141 complaints against car workshops were due to a defect in the product or in the provision of service, while complaints related to non-compliance with the terms of the agreement about 129 complaints, while complaints of non-compliance with the terms of warranty about 60 complaints. He pointed out that 215 complaints were filed by UAE nationals, Indians submitted 77 complaints, Egyptians 68 complaints, Jordanians 31 complaints, Pakistanis 21 complaints and Syrians 16 complaints. .
