The South Energy Company, the energy arm of Dubai South, has signed an agreement with HCT Technical Services, one of the Dubai-based DEWA's solar, A 2 megawatt photovoltaic system at five facilities in Dubai South.
The move comes in line with Dubai's efforts to increase power generation from clean sources and achieve the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. The project, which is scheduled to extend the headquarters of Dubai South and four charging facilities, The first solar PV project to be commissioned by the South Energy Company will be funded without a first payment by Dubai South, the Department of Engineering, Procurement and Construction, and the operation of the solar power plant for a period of 20 years.
"This project reinforces Dubai South's efforts to build a sustainable urban society, in line with Dubai Clean Energy 2050, which aims to generate up to 7 per cent of Dubai's needs," said Marzouki. Of energy from clean energy sources by 2020, and increase it to 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050 ».
"We are keen to launch more of these projects and encourage others to take advantage of renewable energy sources to meet their energy needs. We will continue to work towards these goals as we strive to become a key player in realizing Dubai's vision of being a smart and sustainable city embracing a happier society. "
"Surface-to-surface PV systems are a convenient, low-cost, and sustainable way to generate solar energy because of the abundance of this natural and renewable resource," said Gerhard Dexcheet, general manager of HCT.
"We commend South Energy for taking bold steps in terms of energy sustainability, and we are proud to be part of this important project that allows us to showcase our capabilities and potential by providing all the necessary requirements for timely delivery, with every effort being made. To exceed the expectations of (South Energy) ».
The solar power station is expected to generate more than 3,000 watts / hour of clean energy annually and 40 to 100 per cent of electricity consumption at the facilities of the Dubai South, CO2 emissions of 1,500 tons per year. South Energy will continue its solar energy activities in Dubai through another project under tender for 3.5 megawatts, in addition to a promising 40 megawatt project that is still in the planning stage.
