American statements were mixed about the causes of the massive explosion that hit the port of Beirut on Tuesday, and sympathetic international and Arab reactions with Lebanon continued after the explosion, which led to great destruction and thousands of casualties.

A huge explosion shook Beirut port, killing an estimated 100 people and 4 four thousand injured, and information indicates that the explosion was due to high explosive materials that were confiscated years ago and stored in a warehouse in the port.

Hours after the explosion, US President Donald Trump referred to the explosion as a possible attack and offered to help.

In response to a question about his perception of the explosion, Trump said he had met with some of the soldiers who believed that the explosion was not "of the kind of explosions that result from a manufacturing process" and told reporters that, according to those soldiers who did not mention them by name, the explosion may have been an attack and a "bomb of some kind ".

On the other hand, three Pentagon officials told CNN that they denied any indications that the Beirut explosion yesterday was an attack, in clear contradiction to Trump's statements.

According to the American news station, one of the three officials - who declined to be identified until he speaks more freely - stressed that he did not know exactly what the president was talking about, he said.
