A 31-year-old man was sentenced on Thursday to four years in prison, including three years, for stealing pallets of champagne worth several hundred thousand euros.

The burglary took place in Val-de-Marne last June.

A man was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison for the theft of 43 pallets of champagne from the premises of a company in Bonneuil-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), for damage of several hundred thousand dollars. euros, said Saturday the parquet floor of Créteil contacted by AFP.

This burglary took place on June 16 and the damage is estimated at more than 300,000 euros, according to a police source.

Traces found on a fire extinguisher

"Three men broke into a warehouse and loaded, using a handling machine, 43 pallets of champagne into a semi-trailer truck," says the prosecution.

These men sought to erase their passage on the spot by spraying fire extinguisher powder.

Except that traces left on this extinguisher made it possible to identify "a genetic profile", explains the prosecution.

The suspect is "a 31-year-old man from Seine-Saint-Denis, already convicted several times for violence and traffic offenses", notes the prosecution.

Arrested by police officers from the Val-de-Marne Territorial Security on Monday, he admitted the facts during the immediate appearance hearing on Thursday, while refusing "to designate his co-authors for fear of reprisals".

He was sentenced to four years' imprisonment, including one year suspended probation for two years, accompanied by a warrant of committal.
