The police are having a hard time figuring out the identity of a boy who is believed to be around 10 years old, who was found at the mouth of the Han River in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 5th as a report of a fisherman.

According to the Ilsan Western Police Station in Gyeonggi Province today (18th), the cadaver DNA (DNA) result was released from the National Forensic Research Institute on the 13th, but it was confirmed that there was no case that matched the gene registered in Korea.

Earlier, the police were also informed by the Korea Apparel Industry Association that they could not confirm the manufacturer or distribution of the shorts the body was wearing.

The shorts were in very worn condition with a design that is not easily seen in Korea, and it was known that there were no product labeling labels or manufacturer's trademarks.

The police commissioned the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Service to confirm that the water flows backwards from the western sea to the Gimpo Bridge at high tide, leaving open the possibility that the body may have been washed away from North Korea depending on the direction of the tide.

If the identity of a North Korean child is confirmed, the Ministry of Unification can confirm the intention to take over from the North, but the police explain that it is difficult to identify the identity so far.

It is reported that the North has not yet made any requests for the search for missing persons.

A police official said, "We are waiting for the final results of the National Forensic Service, and we are continuing to check the CCTV near the military base and the Gimpo Bridge.

In addition, similar incidents occurred within a month, such as the bodies of children were found in the tidal flat in front of Gyodongdo, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon on the 2nd, and near the Imjingang Unification Bridge in Munsan-eup, Paju-si, on the 16th.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that the bodies may have been washed away from North Korea.
