Film production company Lotte Entertainment applied for a rating review for 'Crime City 2' with the Film Bureau under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam in May.

However, the censorship authorities rejected the review, citing "the film has a lot of violent scenes."

Crime City 2 is the story of Korean gangster detectives clearing out a gang of gangsters in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

Analysts say that the decision was made because it was judged that scenes such as kidnapping and murder damaged the image of the country and city.

This is not the first time that South Korean films have been banned in Vietnam.

In 2012, CJ CGV pushed for R2B-Return to Base screening, but it did not pass the censorship because there was a battle scene between South and North Korea.

From January next year, Vietnam plans to significantly strengthen censorship, such as requiring foreign companies to submit screenplays in advance when making local films.

Netizens responded, "There are places where the screenplay is censored these days. It's nice to see you again in Vietnam.", "It may be offensive because it's a crime background, but how about watching a movie as a movie?"
