Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil was hit in the head with a hammer by a YouTuber in his 70s while campaigning in Sinchon, Seoul on the 7th.



According to the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul, CEO Song received a price from YouTuber A (70) who ran into the square in front of U-plex in Sinchon around 12:05 pm today.



At the time, CEO Song had just arrived at the scene and was traveling with his party, and Mr. A, dressed in a hanbok and black bungee, ran to CEO Song and struck Song's head several times with a hammer.



Person A was immediately suppressed on the spot and arrested by the police on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act (interference with the election campaign) and special injuries.



He is said to have been filming with a selfie stick.



Representative Song was taken to the emergency room of the nearby Severance Hospital and his life is not known to be in jeopardy.



Ho-jung Yun, the floor leader, said at the rally that continued at the scene, "I smashed Song's head with a pointed object like a hammer."



Rep. Lee Su-jin (proportionate) of the Democratic Party, who watched the situation, said, "As soon as President Song touched his head immediately after the attack, blood flowed from between his fingers."



According to on-the-spot witnesses, it is reported that Mr. A shouted, "I am against the ROK-U.S. military exercises," and "I cannot pass this world on to young people."





The police are investigating the exact motive and circumstances of the crime against A.
