A woman in her 40s who was put on trial for assaulting and injuring a neighbor who stopped a fight has been sentenced to probation.

Today (26th), Changwon District Court 2nd Criminal Division (Chief Judge Kim Goo-nyeon) sentenced A (41), charged with special injury, to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation and ordered 80 hours of community service.

Person A is suspected of injuring a neighbor couple downstairs in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do around 3 pm on August 23, last year by striking them with fists and stainless steel sticks.

According to the judgment, on August 23, last year, Mr. A went to the house next door due to noise issues and made a fuss by swearing loudly.

Upon hearing the noise, Mr. B (39), a resident downstairs, and his wife went upstairs and tried to stop Mr. A, but Mr. A was furious and swears, "You guys won't leave me alone," and hit Mr. B's chest several times with his fist.

Subsequently, Mr. A came out with a stainless steel stick from his house and swung it at the couple.

Couple B, who was startled, ran off the stairs, but Mr. A followed them and beat Mr. B several times with a stick, even though Mr. B raised his hand to stop it. As a result, Mr. B was injured for about two weeks in the front.

In the end, Mr. A, who was handed over to the trial, insisted on self-defense, saying, "Mr. B assaulted (me) first."

However, the court did not accept it, saying, "If you look at the statements of the neighbors who witnessed the situation and the circumstances that Mr. B's wife reported to the police, there is no evidence to convince him that the accused was assaulted by Mr. B."

He also explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "I took into account the fact that the case of injuring a neighbor with a dangerous object for drying it while making a noise about the noise is not light and there is no serious reflection."
