A corpse of a cat with snow was found near Gangnam Station in Seoul, and the police launched an investigation.

The Seoul Suseo Police Station is pursuing the perpetrator after receiving a report that a cruelly mutilated cat body was found.

At around 9:30 pm on the 26th, on a shopping street in Yeoksam-dong, a citizen found a dead cat with snow out and reported it to the police.

The body was found in the city center, just 200m away in a straight line from Exit 1 of Gangnam Station on Subway Line 2.

In particular, the police found a damaged kitten carcass on the 2nd of last month in a parking lot of a shopping mall in Yeoksam-dong, leaving the possibility that it was the same person's crime.

The cat was found with its head and legs separated.

At the time, animal rights protection group Kara called for the arrest of the suspect as soon as possible, saying, "Someone had written the phrase 'Cut a cat' on a tile floor about 1.3 km away."

A police official said, "We are trying to figure out the truth through investigation of the complainant and CCTV analysis."

If the suspect is caught, he will face criminal penalties for violating the Animal Protection Act.

In February, when the Animal Protection Act was amended, the punishment for killing an animal was strengthened to imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of not more than 30 million won.

Prior to that, imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won was imposed, but the sentence has been increased.

However, animal rights groups said, "It is still a soft punishment, so the sentence needs to be strengthened."  claiming that.
