Today (19th), the second day of the Chuseok holiday, traffic congestion on major highways across the country continues.

The traffic flow is slow in the 12km section from Giheungdongtan to Namsa on the Gyeongbu Expressway toward Busan and the 28km section from the Cheonan Service Area to the Cheongju Junction.

In the direction of Mokpo on the Seohaean Expressway, vehicles are repeatedly coming and going in the 13km section from the Seopyeongtaek Junction to the Seohaedaegyo Bridge and the 9km section from the Seosan area to the Unsan Tunnel area.

In the direction of Gangneung on the Yeongdong Line, congestion continues, including the Yangji Tunnel section at the Singal Junction.

The Korea Expressway Corporation estimated that if a car departs the Seoul tollgate by car at 2 p.m., it would take 5 hours and 30 minutes to Busan, 4 hours 30 minutes to Daegu, 3 hours 30 minutes to Gwangju, and 3 hours 30 minutes to Gangneung.

The congestion on the way home is expected to reach its peak around 4 to 5 pm and then to be resolved between 8 and 9 pm.
