All the lights in the densely populated multi-family houses are extinguished, and electric recovery vehicles and fire engines have been dispatched.

At around 8:30 yesterday evening, the power supply to 30 multi-family houses in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul was cut off, and residents suffered from the heat for two hours while the restoration work was in progress.

According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), it is estimated that the power outage was due to an overload as electricity consumption increased due to the heat.

At around 9:30 pm yesterday evening, in an apartment complex in Gajeong-dong, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, a transformer burned down due to overload, causing a power outage to 420 households.

Restoration work was not completed until 5 am this morning, leaving residents with no fans or air conditioners overnight.

Again, around 9:30 pm yesterday evening, in an apartment complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the power supply was cut off to about 140 households.

Most households were able to use electricity again in three and a half hours, but about 10 households had delayed recovery, KEPCO said.
