97 people were reported to have died after getting an influenza (flu) vaccine this year.

As a result of investigating the causes of deaths in 97 people, the Agency said 96 had no association with vaccination, and one said that an epidemiological investigation was under way.

In other words, as a result of reviewing epidemiological investigations, basic investigations, and autopsy results for 96 out of 97 death cases, there were no presumed findings of adverse vaccine reactions in all cases.

The Agency for Disease Control and Prevention emphasized that "(deaths) were found to have worsened the underlying disease, other obvious signs, and other signs that clinically resulted in death."

When looking at 97 deaths by age group, 81 people (83.5%) were in their 70s or older, accounting for the majority, and 8 people in their 60s and under 60s each.

60 patients (61.9%) took more than 48 hours to die after vaccination, and 17 patients (17.5%) had less than 24 hours.

The Agency for Disease Control and Prevention added that the causality between death and vaccination was not recognized, so it was not in a situation to consider retesting the vaccine or suspending the national vaccination project.
