An accident occurred in which an unknown object flew in by breaking the windshield of a vehicle running on the highway, causing serious injuries to the passengers hit by it.

Today (18th) around 11:30 am, an unidentified object flew into the front windshield of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car running on the 1st lane towards Daejeon from near the Iljuk IC on the Jungbu Expressway in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

It was investigated that the object hit the head of a passenger, A (52), sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, and then bounced out through the rear window of the vehicle.

Mr. A was urgently transferred to a nearby hospital by helicopter by the 119 rescue team dispatched after receiving a report, but it is said that he is in a critical condition.

The police and fire departments estimate that the vehicle or the wheel of the vehicle running in the opposite lane caused a foreign object to bounce back and lead to an accident.

It is not yet known what the object entered through the vehicle.

A police official said, "If a foreign object falls from another vehicle and leads to an accident, the driver of the vehicle can be punished on the charge of negligence in business. It is not easy to punish,” he said.
