The decision to launch or not the first manned flight of the American company SpaceX on Saturday afternoon will be taken the same morning, after observing the weather, announced Friday the boss of Nasa. A decision that will therefore be known in the afternoon French time for a possible takeoff in the evening.

For fear of lightning, the first attempt to launch the Crew Dragon capsule to the International Space Station (ISS) with two astronauts on board was canceled Wednesday, only 17 minutes before scheduled takeoff time.

The launch of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, with the Crew Dragon capsule at its summit, is theoretically scheduled for Saturday at 3:22 p.m. (9:22 p.m. in France) from the Kennedy Center, from where the astronauts who walked on the Moon in the 1960s and 1970s. The two astronauts are Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.

Earlier on Friday, NASA said the probability of a launch is 50%. The weather forecast for the moment of the storm. The next launch window would be Sunday at 3 p.m. (9 p.m. in France).
