Huawei will soon be launching a smartwatch that is equipped with its own recently presented operating system, HarmonyOS. According to CEO Vincent Yang, the company will also come up with a smart television that runs on the software, reports CNET .

Huawei announced HarmonyOS in early August. The software must be able to run on different types of hardware. The company also wants to be able to fall back on the operating system for its smartphones if the use of Android by American sanctions becomes impossible.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has no plans to release a smartphone with HarmonyOS, because the company prefers Android. On Monday, the US extended a temporary license for US companies to do business with Huawei, so that Android remains available on Huawei smartphones for the time being.

The United States has imposed sanctions on Huawei because the country regards the company as a threat to national security. According to the US, Huawei is used by the Chinese government as an extension of his espionage practices.

It is unclear when Huawei plans to launch its smartwatch with HarmonyOS. It is also not known whether the gadget will also be available in the Netherlands.
