On the 85th year of his life, cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Valery Bykovsky, died. He belonged to the first generation of Soviet cosmonauts, who, along with Yuri Gagarin, joined the detachment in 1960. Bykovsky performed the first flight in 1963 as a pilot for the Vostok-5 spacecraft, the second in 1976 as the commander of the Soyuz-22 spacecraft. The third flight took place in 1978 on the "Soyuz-31". The total duration of all three astronaut expeditions is more than 20 days.
