Yesterday, Mikaela Shiffrin secured the Alpine World Cup title for the fifth time.

Today she was chasing her 86th victory in the World Cup but finished seventh in the super-G in Norwegian Kvitfjell.

She was among the early starters affected by snowfall before weather conditions improved for riders with late start numbers.

- It was slow with the snow on the flat parts.

But I felt strong on the lower parts so I'm super happy with my race, says Shiffrin according to the AP.

Can touch the record in Åre

The entire podium consisted of riders from Austria with late start numbers.

Nina Ortlieb, who started 31st, took her second World Cup victory when she won ahead of runner-up Stephanie Venier and third was Franziska Gritsch.

Two competition weeks remain in the Alpine World Cup season and next week the competition continues in Åre with giant slalom and slalom.

There she can touch Stenmark's record of 86 World Cup victories.
