From January 31 to February 4, the women's national team will go to Koceni in Latvia for World Cup qualifiers against Latvia, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain.

During Tuesday, the national team captain Åsa Karlsson presented which players will arrange the WC ticket.

Then Karlsson chose to bring seven debutants and one that stands out a little extra is the promising talent Hanna Nordstrand, who scored a goal for her Åkersberga.

- It feels absolutely incredible to get the chance to debut in the national team, not many people get that chance and I get it when I'm so young, it's very fun, says Nordstrand to SVT Sport and continues:

- To play with players that I have watched on TV since I was little, to be able to play with them is incredible.

"Maybe asked the wrong person"

The 18-year-old also talks about the conversation with the national team captain when she found out she was selected.

- Åsa asked "Do you want to play WC qualifiers?"

I started stuttering and said: "What, yes, I want that?".

I didn't understand, so she asked the question again, “Do you want it?

Doesn't that feel very convincing?”

Then I said "Yes absolutely".

My thought was that maybe she had asked the wrong person because it was really shocking.

Did you know that it was the confederation captain who called?

- No, it was a regular number and I usually never answer then, so I looked it up and it said Åsa Karlsson and then I called straight away haha.

Scored in eleven of 14 games

Nordstrand has been incredibly important for her Åkersberga where she has scored in 13 out of 14 games.

The 18-year-old also had a sensational season last fall and scored in all Allsvenskan matches with a score of 72 points before her Åkersberga took the step up to Sweden's highest league, SSL.

Many thanks to Nordstrand in particular.

- I am so proud, that I managed to achieve so much in the highest league is super fun.

The big goal for Nordstrand in 2023 and with the WC qualification is a given - to take a place in the WC squad.

- I will try to show myself enough so that they are satisfied with me, says Nordstrand, who comes directly from the U19 women's national team.
