According to the lawsuit, the player in question, who has both been a professional abroad and represented the Swedish youth national team, has possessed two different pistols for almost a year and a half - without having permission to do so.

Expressen, which was the first to report on the prosecution, writes that the player told in questioning that he had an interest in hunting, among other things through family members, and therefore developed an interest in sport shooting with a pistol.

He also claims he never used the guns.

- These weapons have never been used.

I don't know if you can tell on the weapon that it hasn't really never been used.

As they have come, they have been, says the player in questioning with the police.

"Happened outside the football field"

The sporting director of the club in question says that he found out about the indictment just before SVT Sport contacted him, and explains that he cannot say much at the moment.

- There are far too many details in this investigation that I do not know.

It is something that has happened outside the football field.

Of course I have to get used to this.

But I know the player in question as a very good player in our everyday life and our business, he says.

You did not know that he was suspected of this and that a police investigation was underway?

- No not at all.

So at the moment there are no consequences for him from your side?

- No, as I said, there are so many things in the investigation that I have no knowledge of.

SVT Sport has searched for the player without success, but has been in contact with his lawyer who tells us that he denies any wrongdoing.

- But he does not want to comment more than that, says the defense lawyer.

The indictment is part of a larger investigation and a larger arms race, the prosecutor tells SVT Sport.

The trial starts on January 26.
