Sara Hector has started the season promisingly.

The third place in the grand slalom premiere in American Killington at the end of November was followed up with a second place in Italian Sestriere just over two weeks ago.

Today it didn't go quite as well.

Hector was fifth after the first run in Austria's Semmering, 96 hundredths from leader Mikaela Shiffrin and 24 seconds from second-placed Petra Vlhova, but ultimately had to settle for eighth place after a weak second run.

- I don't think Sara is particularly happy with that, but she has to go home and fine tune the details so she can ride better.

Everyone knows she can do better, especially herself, so it will probably get better until tomorrow, says SVT's expert Johan Brolenius.

Mikaela Shiffrin, USA, won, 13 hundredths ahead of the Slovenian Petra Vlhova.

- Only champions do that, winning by 13 hundredths, she knows exactly what she's doing, incredibly impressive, says Brolenius.

The victory was Shiffrin's sixth podium in Semmering.
