It has been choppy for AIK for most of the season.

Now the club chooses to break with its coach Bartosz Grzelak, who took over in July 2020 after Rikard Norling.

- We are in a negative trend where AIK during a period neither got a sporting development, nor the results with us, which take us to the goals we have set for the business.

Bartosz has done a great and honorable job for AIK under difficult conditions when he took office.

I want to thank him for representing AIK in a professional manner and standing up as a good ambassador for the club, says the men's team's sporting director Henrik Jurelius to the club's website.

The team is in fifth place in the Allsvenskan table, with six points up from leader Häcken.

The team comes from a series of weak results in the qualifiers for the Europa Conference League and was a penalty shootout away from going out already in the last round against North Macedonian Shkendija.

Even in the Allsvenskan, the results have failed recently.

2–2 at home against Värnamo in the last round and the match before that a 1–0 loss away to Kalmar.

Henok Goitom, 37, who played at the club from 2012-2015 and 2017-2021, now takes over temporarily as head coach while the club looks for a long-term solution, the club writes.
