A testicular tumor has been discovered in Marco Richter from Hertha BSC.

The 24-year-old soccer professional needs an operation.

The Berlin Bundesliga club announced this on Tuesday.

“Marco gets every conceivable support from us in this situation.

We hope that he will return to our circle healthy as soon as possible," said managing director Fredi Bobic in a statement.

"As soon as there are further findings on the healing process, we will inform you about it," said Hertha.

The 24-year-old offensive player Richter moved from FC Augsburg to Berlin in the previous season and scored five goals in 30 Bundesliga games.

Under the new coach Sandro Schwarz, Richter was considered a regular right winger.

Hertha traveled to England for a training camp on Tuesday.

Richter immediately received encouragement from Hertha President Kay Bernstein.
