Rafa Nadal asks for respect for Bruguera amid doubts about Davis captaincy

Some voices, covered for now by anonymity, are raised to point out that this role is incompatible with the Davis Cup captaincy.

After his debut at Roland Garros,

confirmed that last Saturday he participated in a meeting with the other Davis tennis players in Paris to clarify the points of view that each one has about the captain's position.

"Complicated Situations"

The Mallorcan registered him within the normality of the team in which, he said, everyone's voice has always been heard before making a decision about the captaincy.

Nadal recognized "complicated situations a few days ago" and said that he had to "see where the shots were going", although he did not give more details.

He limited himself to asking for respect for the captain: "Sergi Bruguera is a professional, who is part of the history of our sport. Whatever the decision, he deserves respect."

From there, the Spaniard assured that "all opinions are valid, understandable and respectable" but pointed out that "everything must be done in dialogue with colleagues."
