Fredrik Lindgren often does well when there is a World Cup competition in Poland.

In 2017, he took the second victory of his career in the World Cup series in Warsaw.

Recent win in Poland

In the two following years, he also took podium places from the competitions at Narodowy Stadium, which seats just over 55,000 spectators.

The last time he won a competition in Poland, in Gorzow 2020, and the last time he took a podium place (September last year) was also in Poland, more specifically Lublin.

Lindgren ninth in the premiere

And when the 2022 first competition in Poland was decided tonight, it was a new success.

He finished third, the first podium of the season after finishing ninth in the premiere.

But it was on the hair.

He ended up last in the start of the semifinals, but first moved up to third and then second place - after a miss by the Polish home favorite Bartosz Zmarzlik (who won the opening competition in Croatia) which made Lindgren reach the final.

The final was stopped early

And there he basically got a "free" podium.

The final was stopped early on the first lap, when Danish Mikkel Michelsen collapsed after a duel with compatriot Leon Madsen, which ended with Michelsen being washed up - and the other three final drivers were safe on podium places.

In the restart, Lindgren ended up last, and he never left that place.

The winner was the Australian Max Fricke, before the Danish Leon Madsen.

- It's an incredible feeling.

I can not understand that I am at the top of the podium, says Max Fricke, in the victory interview after what was his second World Cup victory in his career.

Lindgren's third place means that he advances in the WC table and is now fifth.
