Honus Wagner's baseball card, the most expensive item on the American sports auction market, broke another record.

ESPN, a sports media, reported on the 27th (hereafter Korean time) that Wagner's damaged T206 baseball card was sold at Robert Edward Auction for $1528,66 (about 1.9 billion won).

This card was damaged on three sides, with a large crease in the middle.

Wagner, who played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the early 20th century, was so great that he was elected along with Babe Ruth and others in his first year of the 1936 Hall of Fame voting.

The reason Wagner's baseball cards are the most expensive is that they are the rarest, with only 50 to 200 remaining.

The T206 baseball card was issued without permission by a tobacco company in 1909, but production was stopped due to Wagner's protest.

The original T206 baseball card in pristine condition was sold at a Robert Edward Auction last August for $6.6 million (about 7.7 billion won), the highest price in sports card history.

Also in February, a half torn Wagner card sold for $475,959 at an SCP auction.
