• Campaign The DGT begins the Easter operation: 14.6 million trips are expected

The provisional balance of the DGT shows 26 deceased between days 8 and 18 in which the special operation of Easter Week traffic has passed.

This means that the DGT algorithm would have been wrong in 10 people.

This year the DGT campaign was entitled "This Easter I am going to die" and explained that, thanks to mathematical algorithms and Big Data, the public entity foresaw that 36 people would die in traffic accidents this holiday season.

The campaign had the slogan:

"Let's make Big Data wrong."

"When they tell you that 36 people are going to die this holiday on the road,

you never think that it will be you or someone in your family

, but behind each statistic there are names and surnames, parents, boyfriends, friends, grandchildren... true drama that is difficult to overcome; therefore, this Easter and always,

let us comply with the rules to make Big Data wrong

", said the director of the DGT, Pere Navarro.

Well,

the provisional balance shows 26 victims, 10 less than those algorithms

.

It is not a good figure, it never is when there are victims, especially if one takes into account that it would exceed the data for 2019, the last year before the pandemic, when there were 24 deaths.

Of course, it improves the 31 deaths recorded in Holy Week 2021.

This Easter there have been more than 14 million journeys with hundreds of kilometers of traffic jams, the day with the greatest retentions being last Sunday the 17th.
